A woman was seriously injured in Saturday morning in Logan Canyon when the car in which she was riding was hit from behind by a pickup truck pulling a horse trailer loaded with sheep, the Utah Highway Patrol reported.
The woman was a passenger in a southbound Toyota Corolla that had stopped on US 89, about 30 miles east of Logan, to make a left-hand turn into the Beaver Creek Lodge at about 9:42 a.m.
The pickup truck rounded a corner and rear-ended the car, causing the car to spin around and strike a northbound Chevrolet Trailblazer.
The 40-year-old man driving the Toyota was taken to Logan Regional Hospital, where he was treated and released.
His passenger, a 36-year-old Salt Lake City woman, was flown via AirMed helicopter to Ogden Regional Hospital, the UHP reported.
No one else was injured.
The highway was closed for about 1.5 hours while the crash was cleared.
