Five members of an Orem family survived a crash on Interstate 84 in Cassia County, Idaho, with non-life threatening injuries.
The Idaho State Patrol said the accident occurred shortly before 7 p.m. Sunday near mile post 254 (Sweetzer Road). Lkhamsuren S. Shipp, 36, of Orem, was driving eastbound in a 2004 Chrysler PT Cruiser Sport Van when he failed to negotiate a curve, drifted off the road, overcorrected and rolled into the median. The vehicle came to rest on the westbound shoulder.
Passengers Takashi S. Shipp, 5, and Daniel S. Shipp, 37, flown by helicopter to Portneuf Medical Center in Pocatello, Idaho, initially serious-to-critical condition. However, a hospital spokeswoman said both had been treated and released as of Monday for injuries that turned out to be minor.
Meantime, Lkhamsuren Shipp and passengers Edmond T. Shipp, 8, and Isabella N. Shipp, 2, were also treated for minor injuries at Cassia Regional Medical Center in Burley, Idaho.
ISP troopers said that all five people were wearing seat belts or child restraints at the time of the crash.
