Deputies have found the hiker with mental disabilities who was reported overdue from a Pioneer Day trek Thursday.
Cache County Sheriff's deputies found 21-year old Jerry Gilbert Stevie Duran about 4:45 p.m. walking on the main road near the Anderson Ranch. He was reported to be hungry, but in good condition, according to a news release.
The search was already underway by 6 a.m. Thursday about 13 miles southeast of Hardware Ranch in Blacksmith Fork Canyon, Cache County Sheriff's Lt. Brian Locke said. Duran, of Ogden, had last been seen Wednesday near Curtis Creek wearing a blue-and-white striped shirt and green sweat pants.
Locke said searchers were concerned about the Ogden man's safety because, according to his family, he had suffered a traumatic brain injury and currently functions at the cognitive level of a 7-year-old.
The man and his family were camping near Curtis Creek on Wednesday when there was "some sort of disagreement." The man left the campsite, and when he had not returned a few hours later, at 5:30 p.m., the family called 911.
In addition to Cache County search crews, a search dog was dispatched to the area. Rich County search personnel also were helping in the effort.
