The Salt Lake City Police Department has this advice for Pioneer Day revelers: enjoy the parade but respect the rules and be aware of downtown road closures.
Road closures will be in effect by 5 a.m. Wednesday and selected streets and intersections will remain off-limits to other than parade traffic until about noon. The closures follow the route the parade will take through downtown on its route culminating in Liberty Park.
Parts of Main Street, 200 East and 900 South will be affected.
Police say parade fans can begin reserving their spots along the streets only after 8 p.m. Tuesday. Parking along the parade route is prohibited after 8 p.m. Tuesday; violators' vehicles will be towed.
No dogs are allowed along the parade route after 8 p.m. Tuesday, whether on- or off-leash, other than service animals.
Beginning Wednesday morning, SLCPD bicycle officers will begin monitoring the parade route.
