A rescue crew has found a father and two children who got lost Monday in the Wellsville Mountains.

The man and his two children, 5 and 9, went hiking up the mountain and camped Sunday night; on their way back down, they left the trail and became lost, Cache County sheriff's Lt. Chad Jensen wrote in a press statement Monday afternoon.

The group had water, but their supply was running low, Jensen said.

Rescuers were examining the three hikers to determine whether they have any medical needs and how best to get them down from the mountains, Jensen said at about 4 p.m.
