A grass fire is emitting a lot of smoke and prompting a voluntary evacuation in northeastern Sanpete County.

There is a voluntary evacuation in place for the Pine Mountain subdivision. The 30-acre blaze, dubbed the Aspen Springs Fire, is burning east of Spring City, which is about 2 miles south of Mount Pleasant. The Sanpete County Sheriff's Office announced through its Twitter feed that the flames are threatening structures as it moves southwest. There are as many as 50 homes in the area of the fire.
