Search and rescue crews on Saturday evening located a man who got stuck while hiking in Little Cottonwood Canyon.

Unified Police Lt. Justin Hoyal said the man started his trek alone in the Cardiff area of Little Cottonwood Canyon, but he got stuck in some rough terrain.

Luckily, the man was able to make phone contact with search and rescue members at about 6 p.m., and they were on their way to him Saturday night from a staging area in Alta, Hoyal said.

Rescuers reached the man at about 9 p.m. and brought him down from the canyon in an all-terrain vehicle.

Hoyal said the man had water with him and was not injured.
