Alta Ski Area is calling on its base of loyal skiers and summer recreationists to take part in a slope cleanup on Saturday.

Volunteers will join resort employees and supporters of the Cottonwood Canyons Foundation in picking up waste, recyclables and signs toppled by avalanches in Albion Basin and Collins Gulch from 7:30 a.m. to noon, said Alta spokeswoman Connie Marshall.

Participants in the 3rd annual "Alta Ski Area Cleanup Day" should meet in the Albion Basin parking lot, where a light breakfast will be provided. Volunteers then will ride a chairlift to the top of Collins ridge before separating into groups to remove litter from the various runs to the bottom, she added, encouraging participants to bring sturdy hiking boots, rain gear, gloves, hats, sunscreen and water.
