A mudslide late Wednesday closed a section of Highway 89 South near Gardiner, Mont., as well as the Old Yellowstone Trail beginning just north of the park.

However, the Montana Department of Transportation reported traffic had resumed through the area as of 9 a.m. Thursday. Motorists were cautioned to reduce their speed through the area of mile markers 7-8, about 8 miles north of Gardiner, as road crews continued cleanup efforts.

The mudslide initially spread debris from 4-to-10 feet deep across the road in places. No injuries were reported.
