The Utah weather forecast for Wednesday? Bright, hot and humid. Wednesday night — warm, muggy and dark.
Blame it on a continuing warm, moist air mass and a high pressure system clinging to the region like a wet towel in a sauna.
The National Weather Service says that will be our plight along the Wasatch Front into late this week, and the humidity likely will remain over southeastern Utah into the weekend.
The Salt Lake and Tooele valleys will see another cycle of isolated showers and thunderstorms Wednesday, mirroring the forecast for Tuesday. High temperatures will rise into the upper-90s, overnight lows will remain warm, in the low- to mid-70s.
Southern Utahns will have a tough time staying dry if they venture outdoors. Rain showers and thunderstorms were to punctuate daytime highs well into the triple digits. Overnight lows? Near 80 degrees.
At least the air we breathe will be cleaner come Wednesday. The Utah Division of Air Quality projects "Green," or healthy air for the entire state at the mid-week.
However, the Intermountain Allergy & Asthma website warns that mold is "very high" and chenopods and cattail pollen at elevated "moderate" levels.
Salt Lake City's high temperature Wednesday is pegged at 98 degrees, down from Tuesday's forecast for 99; Ogden looked for 96s both days; Provo 97 and 95 degrees, respectively; Logan 95s; Wendover 96s; Duchesne 88s; Cedar City 91s; St. George 102 and 103; and Moab 96 and 95 degrees.
