North Salt Lake police are cautioning parents to keep a sharp eye out after a girl reported a masked man tried to abduct her.
Two sisters, 8 and 10, were playing alone in Palmquist Park (350 E. Center Street) on Wednesday evening when a man dressed all in black and wearing a black mask tried to grab one of them, said North Salt Lake police Sgt. Matthew Gwilliam. The sergeant did not know which girl the man tried to grab.
No one was at the small park but them. One of the girls threw a plastic soda bottle at the man, who let go and ran off, Gwilliam said.
The girls then ran to their nearby home and told their parents.
A lot of officers searched the area, but never found the suspect. About a month ago, police received a call about a suspicious person watching children and taking pictures, Gwilliam said.
Gwilliam encourages parents to watch their children and know exactly what they are doing, adding that "you never known if something legitimately could happen."
