Civics Central: Salt Lake County to consider giving $350,000 grant for preschool education

Here's your weekly roundup of what local city councils, school boards and other government entities are tackling during regularly scheduled meetings. Government agencies have until 24 hours before a meeting to post their agendas, so check back as this schedule will be updated. All meetings are open to the public, and citizens are welcome to voice their opinions during designated times. If you do wish to speak at a particular meeting, you may need to sign up in advance.

Bluffdale City Council » Will discuss an ordinance specifying the amount of water to be secured by parties receiving approval to develop in the city; Tuesday, July 16, 7 p.m., 14350 S. 2200 West, Bluffdale. View the Bluffdale agenda.

Brigham City Council • Will consider replacing dead and dying trees on Main Street, will also consider changes to employee benefits; Thursday, July 18, 7 p.m., City Council Chambers, 20 N. Main St., Brigham City. View the Brigham City agenda.

Centerville City Council • Will consider, in its role as the Redevelopment Agency board, the adoption of the Barnard Creek Community Development Project Area Plan; Tuesday, July 16, 7 p.m., 250 N. Main St., Centerville. View the Centerville agenda.

Cottonwood Heights Architectural Review Commission • Will consider design of major remodel for Dan's Foods at 2029 E. 7000 South, will also consider design of new mixed-use complex at southwest corner of Fort Union and Wasatch Boulevards; Thursday, July 18 at 5:30 p.m., Suite 250 of City Offices at 1265 E. Davis County Commission • Will hear a presentation of the 2012 audit results for the county; Tuesday, July 16, 10 a.m., Davis County Administrative Office Building, 61 S. Main St., Farmington. View the Davis County agenda.

Draper City Council • Will consider a resolution expressing the city's intent to adjust its common boundary with Lehi City; Tuesday, July 16, 7:30 p.m., 1020 E. Pioneer Road, Draper. (Note that the meeting will begin at 7:30 p.m. instead of the usual time of 7 p.m.) View the Draper agenda.

Farmington City Council • Will hold public hearings on a zone change, schematic plan and preliminary PUD master plan for Chestnut Farms PUD Subdivision Phase 3; Tuesday, July 16, 7 p.m., 160 S. Main, Farmington. View the Farmington agenda.

Fruit Heights City Council • Will consider approval of fiscal 2014 street projects; Tuesday, July 16, 7 p.m., 910 S. Mountain Road, Fruit Heights. View the Fruit Heights agenda.

Holladay Planning Commission • Will consider amending the city's annexation policy, will also discuss slope standards for developing on hillsides; Tuesday, June 16, 7 p.m., Municipal Center, 4580 S. 2300 East, Holladay. View the Holladay planning agenda.

Kaysville City Council • Will consider a proposal to donate a cabin for Heritage Park; Tuesday, July 16, 7 p.m., 23 E. Center St., Kaysville. View the Kaysville agenda.

Midvale City Council • Will consider a contract with Graybar Electric Co., Inc. for city-wide street lighting project, will also discuss new criteria for evaluating lowest bidder; Tuesday, July 16, 7 p.m., City Hall, 655 W. Center St., Midvale. View the Midvale agenda.

Murray City Council • Will hear a presentation on the Salt Lake County Health Department during a 6 p.m. work session in Room 107, the council meeting starts in council chambers at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 16, City Center at 5025 S. State St., Murray. View the Murray agenda.

Murray Planning Commission • Will consider demolition of Sharky's Bar at 20 E. 4800 South, will also consider conditional use permits for soap-making business, an emission and inspection station at an existing car wash, and amending the general plan to allow car sales at 4679 S. North Salt Lake City Council • Will hold a public hearing at a Redevelopment Agency meeting on a draft Redwood Road Community Development Project Area Plan and will vote on the plan at its regular meeting; Tuesday, July 16, 6:30 p.m. RDA meeting and 7 p.m. regular meeting, 10 E. Provo Municipal Council • Will hold a meeting to get public input on city budget issues, including road funding, inflation, balanced budgets and Truth and Taxation for the consideration of up to a 2 percent increase in the Provo City General Operations portion of the property tax; Tuesday, July 16, 7 p.m., Timpview High School cafeteria, 3570 Timpview Drive, Provo. Riverton City Council • Will hold a public hearing for input regarding the issuance and sale of not more than $19.5 million aggregate principal amount of Franchise and Sales Tax Revenue Bonds, Series 2013; Tuesday, July 16, 6:30 p.m., 12830 S. 1700 West, Riverton. View the Riverton agenda.

Salt Lake County Council • Will consider Mayor Ben McAdams' proposal to provide a $350,000 grant to United Way of Salt Lake to make high-quality preschool education available to 150 underprivileged children entering kindergarten; Tuesday, July 16, 9 a.m., Room 2003, North Building, County Government Center, 2001 S. Salt Lake County Planning & Development Services • Will host a Wasatch Canyons General Plans open house to receive input on the preparation of new general plans for Parleys, Big and Little Cottonwood canyons; Wednesday, July 17, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on the first floor, north building of Salt Lake County Government Center, 2001 S. State St., Salt Lake City.

South Jordan City Council • Will receive public comment on changing the zoning and increasing density on property at 11323 S. 2700 West for Thatcher Square Development; Tuesday, July 16, at 6 p.m. in council chambers, City Hall, 1600 W.
