Gunfire leads to one arrest in Salt Lake City, second suspect sought

Salt Lake City police quickly took a suspect into custody after responding to a 911 call of a man being seen with a handgun.

Police say that as they arrived in the area near 180 W. 400 South about 10:10 p.m. Thursday, they heard several gunshots. Officers stopped a vehicle believed involved and two of the occupants fled on foot.

A 23-year-old man was found within the block and arrested without further incident. He was booked into Salt Lake County Jail on suspicion of aggravated assault and discharging a firearm within city limits.

No bullets were reported to have struck any vehicles or buildings, and no injuries were discovered.

The circumstances of the shooting remained under investigation, and one suspect was still at large as of Friday afternoon.

Police did not immediately release a description of the fugitive.
