Doctors discovered illegal drugs stashed inside a woman's vagina when she was brought to a hospital for treatment after a car wreck, according to Payson police.

The woman was driving a pickup truck near 300 South 100 West on Monday when the truck veered left across three lanes of traffic and struck a fence and a tree, police wrote in court documents filed Tuesday.

The woman said she crashed because she had choked while drinking a soda pop and nearly passed out.

The woman was taken to a hospital for a CT scan, which showed small, round objects inside her vagina, police wrote. Before officers got to the exam room, the woman had taken off her shorts and put them back on again, police wrote. Investigators searched the room for contraband, and a follow-up vaginal exam turned up nothing. But officers saw a bulge in the woman's sock; in her sock they found tissues containing five and a half pills of Oxycodone, police wrote.

The woman, whose age was not given, was arrested on suspicion of drug and traffic violations.
