Blood needed: Red Cross asking Utahns for summer donations
This is an archived article that was published on sltrib.com in 2013, and information in the article may be outdated. It is provided only for personal research purposes and may not be reprinted.

The Red Cross is low on blood, and it's calling on Utah residents to help refill its reserves.

It is especially seeking types O negative, B negative and A negative.

Donations have fallen off in recent weeks as families juggle summer schedules and take off on vacation.

Across the country, donations dropped by 50,000, or ten percent, in June.

The organization is also asking for platelets.

You can schedule to give blood on this site. Donors need to bring a driver license or two other forms of ID. They must be older than 17, or have a guardian's permission, and weigh at least 110 pounds.

Health • Seeking O negative, B negative and A negative types.
