Crews on Monday subdued a wildfire that was blown hither and yon by erratic winds in Box Elder County.
The "32 Fire," as it has been dubbed, grew from 20 acres Monday afternoon to about 1,100 acres by Monday evening northeast of Tremonton, according to the state wildfire Twitter account. It was burning just off Interstate 84 at mile post 32.
The fire was threatening a handful of outbuildings when it began early Monday afternoon, but by evening, firefighters had mitigated that threat and it was 100 percent contained, said Jason Curry, spokesman for the Utah Division of Forestry, Fire and State Lands. The wind then blew the fire further away from structures and I-84.
Curry said the fire was human-caused but had no other details.
No other wildfires were burning in Utah as of Monday night.
