A 16-year-old Brigham City girl has died from injuries she suffered in a crash last week that also took the life of a 16-year-old boy.
The Utah Highway Patrol announced that Amanda Brown passed away Friday at University Hospital in Salt Lake City after being ejected from a pickup that rolled off the side of southbound Interstate 15 near Tremonton on June 28.
Brown was the passenger in a GMC Sonoma that was driven by an 18-year-old man. A second passenger, Tyler Stuart of Brigham City, also was killed in the crash.
According to UHP, the pickup was approaching the merge of southbound I-15 and eastbound 1-84 at about 4:15 p.m. when the vehicle drifted off the left side of the highway. The driver over-corrected to the right, sending the pickup spinning off the right side of the road. The vehicle rolled down a hill toward the edge of I-84 eastbound, ejecting Brown and Stuart. Stuart was killed at the scene, and the driver was taken to Intermountain Medical Center in serious condition after being extricated from the pickup.
UHP Lt. Steve Winward said the driver was still recovering at the hospital Saturday in stable condition and was expected to survive.
