An explosion in an abandoned cinder-block storage shed on a hill above Price had police and a bomb squad scrambling, but there were no reports of injuries or other property damage.
Price Police Capt. William D. Barnes said the blast, about 4 p.m. Monday, was heard throughout north Price and neighboring Carbonville. The source of the explosion was discovered to be inside the empty 16-foot by 16-foot building owned by Emery Telcom.
The blast largely destroyed the structure, blowing out large chunks of its cement walls.
In addition to Price police and fire officials, investigation and evidence collection was being handled by the Utah Bomb Squad Task Force, comprised of federal Alcohol, Tobacco & Firearms and local law enforcement officers.
No determination had been made on what sort of explosive was used in the incident and no suspects had been identified.
