The Utah Senate Judicial Confirmation Committee is seeking public comment on Paul B. Parker, who was recently appointed to fill a vacancy on the 3rd District Court bench.
Those wanting to comment should contact Mike Christensen at the Office of Legislative Research and General Counsel, Utah State Capitol Campus, House Building, Suite W210, PO Box 145210, Salt Lake City, Utah 84114-5210, by 5 p.m. on July 10. All statements should include the respondent's name, telephone number, and mailing address.
The Senate Judicial Confirmation Committee will hold a public hearing regarding Parker's nomination on July 12 at noon. The committee will issue their recommendation to the full senate prior to a final confirmation vote.
Parker — who has worked as a prosecutor for the Salt Lake County District Attorney's Office for 24 years — was appointed to replace Judge Judith Atherton who will retire Aug. 1.
The 3rd District Court includes Salt Lake, Summit and Tooele counties.
