An apartment fire Monday night displaced four families in Millcreek Township.

The fire ignited about 7 p.m. in the attic of a four-plex at 211 E. Hill Ave. (4050 South), said Unified Fire Authority Battalion Chief Lee Ascarte. All 15 occupants of the building had evacuated when firefighters arrived.

All of the units sustained smoke or fire damage, Ascarte said. The Red Cross was helping the families find temporary housing.

No one was injured. The fire was rated a two-alarm fire, requiring an elevated response, because firefighters are limited on a 20-minute work cycle in the recent high temperatures, Ascarte said.
