Police found a 2-year-old wandering around a Salt Lake City apartment complex in Sunday's triple-digit temperatures.

About 12:30 p.m., someone found the toddler without shoes at the apartment complex at 1475 W. 400 South and tried to find the parents, but to no avail, said Salt Lake City Police Sgt. Lisa Pascadlo. Officers canvassed the large complex looking for family as well, but also had no luck, she said.

The toddler was turned over to Utah Division of Child and Family Services and a relative called for the child later that afternoon, Pascadlo said. DCFS is heading up the investigation and may screen for charges, Pascaldo added.

"We're always concerned about a 2-year-old wandering around in [triple-digit heat]," Pascadlo said.
