"No one took responsibility, ... so this person took him home, saw the story about the stolen dogs and brought Titan back," Carl Arky, spokesman for the Human Society of Utah, wrote in a press release.

The other dog stolen, a 13-year-old named Bella, is still missing. She was about to join her foster family when she was stolen.

Witnesses said two teenagers or young women walked into the shelter Wednesday and spent an hour there before leaving with the two dogs, according to an earlier news release. They were 24 to16 years old, one blonde and one brunette.

The teens drove away in a white, late-model four-door Toyota Corolla with one or two other people inside. The letters and numbers on the car’s Utah license plate may include CDO454, the release stated.

The shelter is asking for the public’s help to find and return the dogs and is offering a $500 reward for verifiable information leading to the thieves’ arrests.
