A fire at the Navajo Bridge Interpretive Center’s rest rooms and storage area caused extensive damage but no injuries early Friday.

Denise Shultz, spokeswoman for the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area and Rainbow Bridge National Monument, said the blaze was spotted about 5:30 a.m. at the facility, located near Marble Canyon on the Utah-Arizona border.

Page, Ariz., Fire Department crews found the buildings fully engulfed in flames when they arrived, but were able to keep the fire from spreading to the adjacent visitor center.

The cause of the fire was under investigation, though earlier in the week the nearby, historic Marble Canyon Lodge also burned down.
