A 43-year-old Murray man has pleaded guilty to reduced charges, admitting that he used his RV to hit a group of teenagers in a Washington City parking lot last year.

Nickolas Michael May was originally charged with one count of aggravated assault, a second-degree felony; three more counts of aggravated assault, all third-degree felonies; driving under the influence, a third-degree felony; causing an accident involving injury or death, a class A misdemeanor; and reckless driving, a class B misdemeanor.

Last week, May accepted a plea deal and pleaded guilty in 5th District Court to two counts of aggravated assault, one a second-degree felony and the other a third-degree felony, and one count of third-degree felony DUI.

In plea-agreement documents, May admitted that on May 23, 2012, he drove his motor home into a teenage boy, and then tried to "drive toward" another teenager with the motor home. He admits that he drank 13 beers before the incident at a Walmart parking lot. May offered no explanation or reason for driving towards the children.

The young adults told police that they were talking in the parking lot when they watched May start driving his light-colored RV toward them, according to a probable cause statement filed in court. The youths told police May was smiling and laughing as he drove straight at them.

Police said May struck a 16-year-old and hit the parked SUV the youths were standing next to. Witnesses told police that the RV's awning pole fell on the 16-year-old, pinning him against the RV, according to the statement.

May is scheduled to be sentenced on Sept. 17
