A 47-year-old Salt Lake City man who shot and wounded his roommate in 2011 was sentenced earlier this month to prison.
Charles Jeffrey Knabel was ordered to spend two to 15 years in the Utah State Prison on a charge of aggravated assault resulting in serious bodily injury. The actual length of time Knabel spends behind bars will be determined by an independent board.
Knabel pleaded guilty in April to the aggravated assault charge, a second-degree felony, in a deal with prosecutors that spared him what could have been up to a life sentence.
He was originally charged with attempted murder, a first-degree felony.
