An elderly woman died of her injuries after her car was struck by another vehicle as she backed out of a driveway in a central Salt Lake City neighborhood.

Salt Lake City police Det. Rick Wall on Monday identified the victim as 83-year-old Donna Burdick.

Burdick was backing out of her driveway at 1035 S. 500 East just after noon Friday when a southbound car slammed into her. The male driver of the second car was not reported injured.

Burdick was transported in extremely critical condition to the hospital, where she later was pronounced dead.

Wall said the accident remained under investigation, but alcohol and drugs do not appear to be a factor.
