An early morning fire Saturday in a Sunset house caused major burn injuries to a man who firefightersfound unconscious.
Sunset Fire Chief Neil Coker said the 63-year-old man was found in the kitchen.
"It looked like he may have been trying to get out of the house and got disoriented," Coker said.
By the time crews got the man out of the burning home, he had already suffered significant injuries. Coker said the man suffered burns over 30 to 40 percent of his body. He was taken by helicopter to University Medical Center in Salt Lake City, where he remained on life support Saturday night.
The man lived in the house with his son, who was at work at the time. They also rented out their basement to another man, who was able to escape the fire in time.
Coker said the cause of the fire, which apparently started in the living room, was still unknown. He estimated the damage was between $30,000 and $40,000.
Fire crews from Clinton, North Davis Fire and Syracuse also responded to the blaze.
