Weather across the state remains hot, dry and breezy — wildfire weather — as possible storms roll in and the days creep closer to firework-heavy July.
Critical fire conditions are still possible Sunday and increase to likely on Monday, according to the National Weather Service in Salt Lake City. The relatively low humidity and high temperatures are expected to hold steady, with highs across most of the state in the mid- to upper 80s. The daytime heat in southern Utah will reach the upper 90s.
Thunderstorms may even roll into northern Utah Monday afternoon. Isolated storms may prove severe, with winds gusting up to 40 mph, according to the NWS.
The air quality in Salt Lake, Tooele, Davis, Weber and Box Elder counties is expected to be compromised on Sunday, according to the Utah Division of Environmental Quality.
Salt Lake City expected a high temperature of 89 degrees on Sunday and Monday; Ogden looked for 86 and 87, respectively; Provo 89 both days; Logan 86 both days; Wendover 88 and 86; Duchesne 83 and 84; Cedar City 83 and 82; St. George, 98 and 97; and in Moab, 93 both days.
