A 3-year-old Syracuse girl was in critical condition Monday after a dresser drawers and a television set atop them fell on her.

Syracuse Fire Chief Eric Froerer said the accident occurred just prior to 9 a.m. Monday at a home in the area of 800 West and 2500 South.

It was not known whether the furniture and TV were pulled down by the child, or fell for some other reason, Froerer said.

The TV was described as an older, analog tube style that is markedly heavier than more modern flat screen models.

Firefighter paramedics responding to a 911 call found the girl "with some pretty significant, critical injuries" when they arrived. A helicopter was dispatched to rush the child to Primary Children's Medical Center in Salt Lake City.

Froerer declined to identify the girl, saying extended family members were still being located Monday afternoon.
