It's officially spring for two more weeks, but when it comes to this weekend's Utah forecast, let's summer-ize: hot, clear and sunny.
You can count on the National Weather Service predictions of highs in the mid- to upper-80s for northern Utah and 100-plus in the southern reaches of the state. Like the thermometers they depend on, no forecaster wants to be considered a source of low degree.
The weekend's air quality, too, was looking good. While Salt Lake, Davis, Utah and Duchesne counties were in the "yellow," or compromised category on Friday, they were awarded "green," or healthy air quality grades for Saturday and Sunday — as were Tooele, Uintah, Washington and Weber counties.
Allergy sufferers sniffed out a pretty decent outlook, too: the Intermountain Allergy & Asthma web site noted that while grass pollen levels were "high" as of Friday and oak and mold were "moderate," other allergens were at low levels.
Salt Lake City's high temperature Saturday was pegged at 86, down from Friday's forecast for 91 degrees; Ogden looked for 84 and 89 degrees, respectively; Provo 88 and 91; Logan 83 and 87; Wendover 87 and 92; Duchesne 85 and 84; Cedar City 90 and 91; St. George 101 and 103; and Moab 98 and 93 degrees.
