Help set a record • The Family Fitness Center, 5415 W. 3100 South, will join with water safety groups from around the globe at 9 a.m. Tuesday, June 18, in The World's Largest Swimming Lesson. The free event is designed to build awareness of the importance of teaching children to swim and is an attempt to set a Guinness world record. Music and movies in the park • A performance by musician Robyn Kemp and the movie "The Lorax" will kick off a summer of entertainment at the pavilion in Pleasant Green Park, 3270 S. 8400 West. Taylorsville

Chairman appointed • Jeffery Nelson, CEO and president of Nelson Laboratories in Taylorsville, has been appointed by Gov. Gary Herbert as board chair of the newly formed Science Technology Engineering and Math Action Center. The center will work to increase the number of STEM educators and professionals in the state.
