Police arrested the now former executive director of a Cedar City female youth home, alleging he raped and sexually abused girls in the home.
Daniel Taylor, 42, was the director of Integrity House until police arrested him on Friday. He was booked into Iron County jail on suspicion of three counts of first-degree-felony rape, three counts of first-degree-felony sexual abuse of a child, and one count each of misdemeanor assault and abuse, according to jail records.
A second staff member at the house, Jamie Frost, identified as a student/family advocate, was also arrested on suspicion of two counts of assault, according to a Cedar City police statement issued Saturday.
Formal charges have not been filed. Police Saturday would not provide further information on the case. Iron County Attorney Scott Garrett was unavailable for comment Saturday.
Police allege that Taylor, then the executive director of Integrity House, a residential treatment center for troubled female teens 12 to 17 years old, sexually assaulted "multiple female minor victims currently in the home," according to the police statement.
Dawn Bauer, the center's admissions director, however, said Saturday "none of our current residents have brought forth any allegations consistent with the current charges."
"I honestly do not know who the accusers are," she added. "Is there a possibility that one can be a former resident? There might be, but I don't know that."
Frost resigned from the center Friday, Bauer said.
The facility currently has 26 teen residents and can hold a maximum of 29 and is the only Integrity House in Cedar City. The executive director worked in a separate administrative office but apparently would make visits to the treatment center.
"Our staff right now is in shock over these allegations — and they are allegations at this point. The staff members and the directors have all come together to first and foremost provide a sense of peace, security and stability amidst a difficult time," Bauer said.
"We are working very closely with detectives and all authorities ... to provide them with any and all information that they need because we want to assure the families that their daughters are safe and being cared for," she added. "We are addressing this."
