Lifeguards helped save a 3-year-old boy on Monday from drowning.

He and his mother were at the Alpine Country Club pool in Highland when at 5:52 p.m. the boy, somehow, wound up unconscious and not breathing on the left side of the pool, according to a Lone Peaks Police Department news release. The release does not say how deep that section of the pool is.

While emergency responders were on their way following a 911 call, lifeguards pulled the boy out and began cardiopulmonary resuscitation on him. By the time paramedics arrived moments later, the boy was conscious and breathing again, according to the police.

The boy was taken to Primary Children's Medical Center, but is expected to be fine.
