One man was slightly injured early Monday during a drive-by shooting in West Valley City.

West Valley City police Sgt. Chad Evans said some men were sitting on the porch of an apartment near 2400 West and 3800 South about 2 a.m. when they reported a dark-colored SUV pulled into the area.

Someone inside the SUV yelled out a gang name and fired several shots, Evans said.

One of the shots grazed the man in the leg. The man drove himself to an area hospital for treatment and was expected to recover, Evans said.

Evans said police don't know why the men were targeted. None of them has gang ties.
