Five people were injured Sunday morning after the vehicle they were in rolled multiple times along Interstate 80 in Tooele County.
All of the injured are from the same family, the Utah Highway Patrol said in a news release Sunday.
A 38-year-old woman was the only person in the car wearing a seat belt, UHP said.
Investigators said a Ford Explorer was traveling eastbound on Interstate 80 north of Grantsville at about 6:30 a.m. when it drifted to the left side of the roadway. The 19-year-old female driver overcorrected twice — right and then left — sending the vehicle into a roll. The sport utility vehicle, which officers estimate was traveling at a speed of about 90 mph, rolled multiple times over 750 feet.
Three men, all between the age of 20 and 25, were ejected as the vehicle rolled. They were flown by air ambulance to Salt Lake area hospitals, UHP spokesman Joe Dougherty said.
The driver remained in the car, but bounced around and ended up in middle seat of the car. She and the 38-year-old woman were transported by ground ambulance.
Authorities closed I-80 for about 45 minutes following the crash.
