Six people were injured Saturday night in two head-on collisions in Utah County.
Saratoga Springs police said the crashes occurred about 9:30 p.m. near 1200 W. State Road 73, which is about 2 miles west of the Saratoga Springs Crossroads intersection.
Police said the driver of a westbound pickup truck crossed over the center line and struck an eastbound minivan. The impact caused the van to roll, and the driver was ejected, officers said.
The pickup then struck an SUV. The impact injured a child in a safety seat. The child was flown by air ambulance to a Salt Lake City-area hospital, police said.
Two other occupants of the SUV were transported to area hospitals with injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening.
The van's driver and passenger were transported to a hospital by ground ambulance.
The impact of the collisions pinned the driver of the pickup inside his truck until rescue crews could extricate him. He was flown by air ambulance to an area hospital with critical injuries, police said.
Authorities closed SR 73 for nearly four hours while they investigated. The cause of the crash remained under investigation Sunday.
