Authorities suspect suicide in the death of a 24-year-old man whose body was found Wednesday evening at a park in southwestern Utah's Washington City.

A public safety dispatcher said police were notified about 5:30 p.m. that a body had been discovered behind the rest rooms building at Pineview Park.

Washington City police said the death remained under investigation Thursday, but it appeared the man had died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The man, whose name was not released, reportedly had been depressed and indicated suicidal thoughts to family and friends in recent days.
