An all-terrain vehicle accident killed a 7-year-old girl Sunday in Tooele County.

The girl's name was not disclosed Sunday. Tooele County spokesman Wade Matthews said the accident happened about 4:14 p.m. It occurred about 5 miles up Middle Canyon. The girl was a passenger on the vehicle when it struck a tree.

Matthews did not have information about the identity or condition of the vehicle's driver or how the accident occurred. He added that the accident happened in an area of low cellphone coverage, which was making it difficult to gather information.

According to Matthews, Middle Canyon is a wide area with a paved road. It is popular for camping and has several trails for all-terrain vehicles.
