A Cache County sheriff's deputy sustained minor injuries when his cruiser was struck by two vehicles while he was rushing to back up other law officers.
Lt. Brian Locke said the crash occurred about 9:45 a.m. on Wednesday as the deputy, responding to a call for assistance from other deputies, who were making what they considered to be a "high risk" traffic stop.
"The sheriff's deputy entered the intersection at 300 South and Highway 165 in Providence, travelling westbound and attempting to turn southbound. Upon entering the intersection, the deputy's vehicle was hit by two other vehicles travelling northbound on Highway 165," Locke said.
The deputy, complaining of neck pain, was taken to Logan Regional Hospital to be checked out, but reportedly did not suffer and serious injuries.
The drivers of the other two vehicles involved in the accident were not hurt.
The Utah Highway Patrol, at the request of the Cache County Sheriff's Office, is investigating the incident.
