Firefighters rushed to the scene of a west Salt Lake City house fire Friday morning believed caused by children playing with matches.

An adult male, a teenager and two children in the home escaped unharmed from the blaze at 608 N. 800 West, Salt Lake City Fire Department spokesman Jasen Asay said.

The adult called 911 at 9:17 a.m. when they noticed smoke building up inside the home.

Asay said the fire, which began on a couch and spread into the attic, was quickly extinguished.

Asay said Friday evening that the damage estimates were not yet available.
