What do residents want at Lodestone Regional Park, which will be built in Kearns?

To get a feel for their answers, Salt Lake County Parks and Recreation officials will hold an open house Tuesday from 6:30-8 p.m. at Thomas Jefferson Junior High School, 5850 S. 5600 West.

A master plan for the 62-acre park at 6170 W. 5990 South was developed in 2010. A small first phase was built a year later, producing a pavilion, two playgrounds and a perimeter path on 2½ acres.

When Salt Lake County voters approved a $47 million bond last November for parks and trails, another $5 million was freed up for detailed planning and construction on the other 60 acres.

Parks and Recreation officials are considering developing multipurpose athletic fields, informal ball diamonds, a restroom and parking there, but want public input before finalizing plans, said Martin Jensen, assistant director of the county Department of Community Services.

Park construction is scheduled to begin early next year, wrapping up early in 2016.
