A Parowan man died in a fiery rollover accident Wednesday morning on Interstate 15.
Utah Highway Patrol Cpl. Todd Johnson said the accident occurred at 4:14 a.m. when a northbound Ford Focus collided with the rear of a dump truck near mile post 87, north of Parowan.
The impact sent the truck across the median and the southbound lanes of I-15 and onto the shoulder, where it came to rest.
The two males inside the truck escaped with minor injuries.
However, the driver of the Focus — identified as 25-year-old Jeremiah S. Barton — was dead at the scene. Barton's car, after striking the truck, ran off the northbound shoulder, hit a road sign and rolled, coming to rest right side up before it burst into flames.
Barton died inside the car, UHP said.
There were no indications of excessive speed or impairment with either driver, officials said.
