The man who deputies were pursuing through Hyrum Saturday morning is still out there.
At about 12:40 a.m., a Cache County Sheriff's deputy stopped a vehicle at 3400 S. 1200 West and noticed an alcohol odor, according to a news release. The male driver also showed signs of intoxication.
A second deputy showed up to help with the traffic stop, but when the driver was asked to get out, he drove off. The deputies pursued the vehicle into Hyrum, but cancelled the chase when a passenger bailed out and the vehicle kept going.
A Utah Highway Patrol trooper later found the vehicle crashed into a fence near 200 E. 300 North. Law enforcement set up a perimeter, after which a second passenger turned himself in, but the driver was never found.
Deputies know the suspect's identity, though, according to the release.
No one was injured in the chase.
