A fire on Wednesday displaced at least two people from their Salt Lake City apartments.
About 7:10 p.m., firefighters responded to the two-alarm fire at the Sky Harbor Apartments at 1876 W. North Temple. Smoke and flames were coming out of the windows and roof of the second-floor apartments, said Salt Lake City Fire Department spokesman Jasen Asay. They didn't find anyone inside and extinguished the fire within 10 to 15 minutes, Asay said.
By the time the fire was out, it had damaged one second-floor apartment and smoke had damaged two other apartments on the same floor. Two of the ground-level apartments also had water damage. Residents from the five apartments were given places to stay at the complex.
The resident of the apartment where the fire started told investigators that he came home and saw smoke coming from a window and tried to put out the fire, but couldn't.
A 50-year-old man was checked out at the scene for smoke inhalation, though he didn't need to go to the hospital, Asay said.
Investigators are trying to determine the cause of the fire.
