A 4-year-old girl was hospitalized Thursday after she was found unconscious with alcohol in her system.

Weber County dispatchers received a 911 call around 11:53 a.m. about an unresponsive child at an apartment complex near 1045 S. 1200 West in Marriott-Slaterville, said Weber County sheriff's Lt. Mark Lowther. While details of the girl's condition are scarce, Lowther said that emergency responders were initially "pretty concerned."

She was taken to McKay-Dee Hospital Center in Ogden, where medical staff tested her and found alcohol in her system. She was later transferred to Primary Children's Medical Center, and she's now believed to be faring better, Lowther said.

Lowther did not know the girl's blood-alcohol level, and the hospital measures it differently than law enforcement, he added.

Detectives are still investigating how the girl got the alcohol.
