A man died in a construction-related accident Thursday morning in the Indianola area.

Sanpete County Sheriff Brian Nielson said deputies and emergency medical workers rushed to the industrial construction site, just off U.S. 89 near mile post 294, at 9:16 a.m.

Two men were pulling a piece of heavy equipment with a truck when the vehicle slowed and apparently stalled, unable to make it up a steep hill.

"The truck started to roll backward. The driver jumped out of the truck and it appears [the driver] was run over by the truck," the sheriff stated. "The passenger [who remained inside the truck] did not report any injuries but the driver was killed."

Investigation of the accident was just beginning with county deputies being assisted by the Utah Highway Patrol. A representative of the state Medical Examiner's Office also was assisting in the probe.

Nielson said the identity of the victim was being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
