Two Altamont men who went missing overnight while hunting for shed elk antlers in the rugged and remote Book Cliffs were found unharmed early Tuesday afternoon.

Uintah County Undersheriff John Laursen said Joey Draper, 22, and Kyle Wilkerson, 21, were located about 12:25 p.m. in the Flat Rock-Willow Creek area, located on the southern reaches of the Book Cliffs.

"They are alive and well, just a little bit cold," Laursen said, adding that the two apparently were forced to spend the night inside their pickup truck when it became stuck in the mud.

The two men had been expected to return home before dark Monday. When they did not, family members reported them missing.

Weather in the Book Cliffs overnight was subfreezing, with windblown snow and fog.

Searchers located the stuck pickup truck just before noon Tuesday and then found the duo walking, about half an hour later.
