West Valley City

Park plan • An open house on the proposed Pioneer Crossing Park will be held 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, April 11, at the Utah Cultural Celebration Center, 1355 W. 3100 South. Salt Lake County and West Valley City officials will take input on a development master plan for 25 acres near 3300 South, where the pioneers first crossed to the west side of the Jordan River.

Call for entries • The Utah Cultural Celebration Center is accepting entries until May 2 for an art and artifact exhibit showcasing Vietnam and the Vietnamese people. All visual forms of art and artifact may be submitted — including folk arts, fine arts, contemporary works, photography, collectables, musical instruments and traditional dress — and will be juried for acceptance in the show, which will run May 16 through June 26. To be considered, send a digital image of the submission with its dimensions and mediums noted, a one- or two-sentence description of the item and artist and your contact information to Michael Christensen at michael.christensen@wvc-ut.gov. Reserve a space • Groups are invited to sign up for a booths at the Taste of Kearns event, which is being held 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. May 6. Booth space is $25 for businesses and organizations; those fees may be waived for government agencies and nonprofit organizations. Booth space for political candidates and organizations is $100.
