Celebrate the earth with a 10K • The city's 4th annual Earth Day 10K begins at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 20, from the West Riverfront Pavilion, 11050 S. Riverfront Parkway. Registration is $30 and can be done in person at the Fitness & Aquatic Center, 10866 S. Redwood Road, or by phone, 801-253-5236 or online at http://www.activityreg.com. Participants receive a Wickify race jersey.

Native species • Help native pollinators and save water by using native plants in your landscape. Learn the secrets of native species propagation in this hands-on workshop April 13 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Red Butte Garden, 300 Wakara Way. Preregister at 801-587-5433.

Cottonwood Heights

Pretend to be an earthquake victim • As part of emergency preparedness, he city is teaming with the Red Cross to set up a mock disaster shelter at the Cottonwood Heights Recreation Center on April 18.
