Iron County sheriff's deputies and fire investigators on Wednesday were investigating a blaze that destroyed four semitrailers.

Cedar City firefighters were called to the fire at a truck dispatch yard outside of town off U.S. 56 at 600 N. Iron Springs Road at 10:43 p.m. on Tuesday. The flames had engulfed three of the big rigs and quickly spread to a fourth before crews could act.

In addition to the trucks, a nearby metal building was a total loss, Sheriff's Sgt. Del Schlosser said.

Firefighters reportedly were slowed in their efforts when one of the fuel tanks ruptured and spread flaming diesel over the area.

No one was injured, Schlosser said.

Cedar City fire investigators believe the blaze was accidental but are continuing their investigation.
